At OPPD, we’ve imagined the future. Powering the Future to 2050 is a strategic vision to make OPPD cleaner, more sustainable, and more innovative than you can believe. While others have been wondering about what’s next, we’ve been hard at work, nights and weekends, planning out what the future of power looks like and how to bring it to life.

Compared to your grandparents' time, electricity is more important than ever. The Greater Omaha region reached 1.2 million people in the late 2040s. Electricity powers the region’s transit, its first-class health care services, all of the remote and hybrid workplaces and education centers, and the millions of interconnected smart devices that make life more convenient.

Compared to your grandparents’ era, energy services are invisible and intuitive. Your grandparents had to call their utility to report a power outage. Now you rarely experience outages, because they’re fixed before service is lost. If an outage does occur, you get a real-time notification and are automatically switched to backup.

Access to perfect power in 2050 provides peace of mind. You don’t have to think about your energy supply; it just works. This gives you and those you love freedom.
